His Majesty King of Morocco Mohammed VI had a telephone conversation today with the Secretary General of the UN Antonio Guterres.

The phone call focused on the latest developments in the National Issue, in particular the situation in Guergarate area in the Moroccan Sahara.

During this call, His Majesty the King underlined that after the failure of all the laudable attempts of the Secretary General, the Kingdom of Morocco has assumed its responsibilities within the framework of its most legitimate right, especially since this is not the first time that the separatist “Polisario” militia have engaged in unacceptable behavior.

Morocco has restored the situation, resolved the problem definitively and restored the flow of traffic.

His Majesty the King specified that the Kingdom of Morocco will continue to take the necessary measures to ensure order and guarantee a safe and fluid movement of people and goods, in this area on the border between the Kingdom and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

His Majesty the King reaffirmed to Mr. Guterres Morocco’s constant attachment to the cease-fire agreement. With the same force, the Kingdom remains firmly determined to react, with the greatest severity, and within the framework of self-defense, against any threat to its security and the peace of mind of its citizens.

His Majesty the King finally assured the Secretary General that Morocco will continue to support his efforts within the framework of the political process. This should resume on the basis of clear parameters, involving the real parties to this regional dispute and allowing a realistic and achievable solution within the framework of the sovereignty of the Kingdom.
