Boussouf: Defending the nation against all opposition is contributing to defeating the enemy

The Moroccan Sahara: from the Lesser Jihad to the Greater Jihad

Abdallah Boussouf, Secretary General of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad, believes that “The Moroccan Sahara: from the Lesser Jihad to the Greater Jihad”, his book title, is a statement which was embodied in several heroic and political actions taken by Morocco throughout the years. Among these we mention: Revolution of the King and the People and the Liberation Struggle during the rule of late King Mohammed V, as well as the Recovery of Southern Provinces and the establishment of modern state foundations during the era of late King Hassan II.  Today, under the rule of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI, we have witnessed a number of significant achievements among which we include: proclaiming the beginning of Equity and Reconciliation Era, promoting constitutional and human rights, re-adopting a social State, fostering sustainable development, launching the Autonomy Initiative for Moroccan Saharan regions, and rejoining the African Union in 2017.

Boussouf adds that “contributing to defending the nation against all opposition is contributing to defeating the enemy, and therefore convincing others that we are rightful as evidenced by history and geography. He also points out “from my small position, and my great passion for belonging to this country, and after more than two decades in Europe, my motive has always been the patriotic and spiritual duty, defending our ancestors’ homeland and declaring loyalty to a country that inhabits our hearts. We contributed to enriching the debate in light of national and international events related to the Moroccan Sahara through articles and interventions in which we were armed with logical and historical evidence.”

He concluded by saying that “our aim today, through collecting these articles, is to document a number of watersheds and emotional outbursts that Moroccans experienced wholeheartedly. Moreover, we would like to express our love and loyalty to this country. I love you, my country.”
