FM Nasser Bourita Tackles Acts Of Violence At Al-Aqsa Mosque During Extraordinary Session of Arab League Council at Ministerial Level

"Morocco remains convinced of the virtues of dialogue and negotiation as the only way to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, away from acts of violence and unilateral actions.”

During the extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at Ministerial Level held today, Tuesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, reaffirmed that the Kingdom of Morocco shares with neighboring Arab countries the feelings of grave concern over the violent events taking place in al-Quds during this holy month of Ramadan.

In the same context, Bourita expressed the country’s categorical rejection of all violations and unilateral measures that affect the legal status of the Holy City and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people in achieving their aspirations for freedom and independence, while condemning the hateful speeches of some Israeli extremist religious organizations.

He added, “the continuation of such practices will only lead to more factors of escalation and tension, and the predominance of hate speech and hatred, thus reducing the chances of peace in the region, and plunging the Palestinian cause and Al Quds into the maze of religious and ideological conflict”, noting that peace will only be achieved by re-launching a constructive dynamic which will guarantee everyone in the region to live in security, stability and harmony.

Moreover, The Minister reaffirmed Morocco’s firm and clear position, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of al-Quds Committee, in support and advocacy of the Palestinian cause, and its adherence to a peaceful settlement in accordance with the internationally agreed two-state solution, by establishing the state of Palestine by the June 4, 1967 Border, with East Jerusalem being its capital.

Bourita also noted that His Majesty “will continue to defend the special status of al-Quds and respect the freedom to practice religious rites for the followers of the three monotheistic religions, and will spare no effort to protect its Islamic character, preserve the sanctity of al-Aqsa Mosque and defend the historical identity of this city as a land for interfaith coexistence.”

In this regard, it should be recalled that Bayt Mal Alqods Acharif Agency, is investing, under the directives of His Majesty, a lot of effort to support the steadfastness of people in al-Quds, whether through its annual programs and projects, or comprehensive humanitarian aid.

On a finale note, Bourita stressed that Morocco, which clings to peace as a strategic option, “remains convinced of the virtues of dialogue and negotiation as the only way to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, away from acts of violence and unilateral actions.”
