The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, spoke on June 24th of 2021 with the Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah.


During this meeting, the two ministers praised the positive dynamics that the bilateral relations have seen in recent years, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his counterpart President George Weah.

Mr. Bourita and Mr. Saah Kemayah proceeded then into signing a roadmap of partnership concerning the fields of education, training, technical cooperation, economic development and investments. Future plans of official visits on both sides were made as well.

The meeting displayed openly the great ambition of the two Heads of State to promote this partnership through the roadmap signed on Thursday, which contains a series of actions and covers several fields.

A notable agreement of the new roadmap would be the two ministers’ agreement to hold the 3rd session of the Mixed Commission in the coming months in order to take stock of the actions carried out and identify the priorities to be implemented.

They also signed a cooperation agreement regarding the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons between the Republic of Liberia and the Kingdom of Morocco.

Furthermore, M. Bourita showed once more Morocco’s gratitude for the clear, unmistakable and constant stance that Liberia takes concerning the integrity of Morocco’s territory and the Moroccan Sahara. This stance that was reinforced by the inauguration of the General Embassy of Liberia in Dakhla, on March of 2020.

As for M. Saah Kemayah, he insisted on the necessity of promoting economic cooperation and increasing commercial exchanges between Morocco and Liberia. This plan of action is to be started by encouraging economic operators and investors on both sides to explore the flourishing markets.
