Ryad Mezzour: the new Minister of Industry and Trade

His Majesty King Mohammed VI on Thursday, October 7, appointed members of the new government. Mr. Ryad Mezzour, as Minister of Industry and Trade.

The Department of Industry and Commerce was scheduled to be led by Moulay Hafid Elalamy indefinitely. However, this ministry was eventually delegated to his Chief of Staff. Indeed, King Mohammed VI appointed Ryad Mezzour to lead this distinguished ministry.

This engineer from the Zurich Polytechnic School was born in Rabat in 1971 and is a member of the executive committee of the Alliance of Istiqlal economists.

In 1996, he began his professional career with the Swiss ABB group, which he left two years later to pursue a Masters degree at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.

He obtained the valuable sesame keys and joined the firm Deloitte as a consultant in charge of financial services. He returned to Morocco in 2003 to become the Managing Director of Budget, which was recently acquired by Finance.com.

He took ship for Somed two years later, where he was appointed counselor to the chairman before taking over the trade department and eventually the commercial management of the Zellidja subsidiary.

Mezzour was named General Manager of Suzuki Morocco in 2009, a post he held until 2013, before spending almost five years as an expert at the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE).

Mezzour joined the Moulay Hafid Elalamy circle as a senior expert in July 2019 during the government of former Prime Minister Saad Eddine El Othmani to work on the implementation of the industrial acceleration plan, the recovery plan, and the import substitution strategy, among other things.
