Dakar: The Tijanes organize their 42nd Cultural Days under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI

The 42nd edition of the “Islamic Cultural Days,” an annual event held under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, Amir Al-Mouminine, and the honorary presidency of Head of State of Senegal, Macky Sall, was organized by the Tijane Coordination of Dakar on Saturday night.

The official ceremony of this significant three-day religious gathering was marked by the presence of a sizable Moroccan delegation, which included Hassan Naciri, the ambassador of H.M. the King in Senegal, Mohammed Lekbir Attijani, the sheikh of the Zawiya Tijania of Fez, Abdeslam Lazaar, a member of the High Council of Ulemas of the Kingdom, and Abdellatif Beghdouri Achkari of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulemas, as well as several presidents of local Ulema councils.

The Haj Malik Sy family and other Sufi families, including the Omarienne family, the Niass family from Kaolack, the Medina Gounass family, and all the Tijan families of Senegal, were obliged to extend a hearty welcome to the members of the Moroccan delegation as usual.

The Islamic Cultural Days of Dakar, regarded as one of the biggest gatherings of the Tariqa Tijaniya in Senegal, have been under the high patronage of late HM Hassan II and afterwards HM King Mohammed VI, Amir Al-Mouminine, since 1986.

The goal of these cultural days, according to the organizers, is to strengthen unity among Tariqa Tijaniya adherents and to further the ideals of peace, tolerance, and intercultural coexistence.
