Switzerland Hails Morocco’s ‘Positive’ Role in Reaching Peaceful Political Transition in Libya

Rabat – Switzerland has welcomed Morocco’s “very positive” commitment to a peaceful political transition in Libya.

In a tweet published on Wednesday in response to the meeting in Bouznika of the 6+6 joint commission tasked by the Libyan House of Representatives and the High Council of State with drafting the electoral laws for the legislative and presidential elections in Libya, Guillaume Shreurer, the Swiss ambassador to Morocco, stated his position.

After two weeks of negotiations in Morocco, the 6+6 joint commission reported on Tuesday night that its members had reached an agreement on the legislation governing the presidential and parliamentary elections slated for the end of the year.

The meeting in Bouznika is a follow-up to a series of gatherings the Kingdom has held to bring together the various Libyan parties in order to deepen the conversation about the best course of action for resolving the crisis there. This approach creates the perfect environment for open communication and helpful consultation.

By supporting Libya’s initiatives to hold elections in a comprehensive, inclusive, and practical framework, Morocco continues to endeavor to find a lasting solution to the Libyan issue that ensures the country’s unity, stability, and advancement.
