U.S Senator Ted Cruz Welcomes Israel’s Recognition of Morocco’s Sovereignty over Its Sahara
Washington – American Senator Ted Cruz welcomed, on Tuesday, Israel’s decision to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
The Republican Senator noted in a tweet that Israel just recognized Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara and that this State decision is paving the road for more collaboration.
As part of the improvement in bilateral ties between the two nations, Ted Cruz, one of the powerful figures in the Republican Party, emphasized the substantial influx of Israeli tourists to the Kingdom.
According to a statement made by the Royal Office, HM King Mohammed VI has received a letter from Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, in which he brought to the Sovereign’s Very High Attention Israel’s decision to “recognize the sovereignty of Morocco over the territory of Western Sahara.”
Regarding this, the Israeli Prime Minister emphasized that his nation’s viewpoint would be “reflected in all relevant acts and documents of the Israeli Government.”
He also emphasized that all nations with which Israel has diplomatic ties would be informed of the decision, along with the United Nations, regional organizations, and international bodies.
The Israeli Prime Minister noted in his letter to the Sovereign that, in order to carry out this state decision, his nation is actively considering “the opening of a consulate in the city of Dakhla.”
