Women’s World Cup: Morocco Secure Ticket to Last 16 after Beating Colombia

Perth (Australia) – Moroccan women’s soccer team secured their ticket to the last 16 of the 2023 World Cup after defeating Colombia (1-0) on Thursday in Perth (Australia), on Group H’s 3rd matchday.

Anissa Lahmari (45th+1) scored the winning goal for the Atlas Lionesses, bringing Morocco into second position in Group H behind Colombia (6 points apiece).

Germany and South Korea tied 1-1 in the other group match, and as a result, Germany finished third, one point ahead of South Korea in fourth.

The first Arab side to go to the Women’s World Cup finals, Morocco, was defeated by Germany on the opening matchday before defeating South Korea on the following day.
