The Head of the Executive Secretariat of the G5S expresses his satisfaction with the decision to support Morocco

The Head of the Executive Secretariat of the G5S, Mr. Maman Sambo Sidiko, expressed this Friday, in Rabat, his satisfaction with the decision to the support Morocco. The latter being a country that is held in high esteem by the people of the Sahel and Africa as a whole.

 

Mr. Sambo Sidiko; who chose Morocco, after Niger and Mali, as the destination for one of his first official visits since his appointment; praised the continued presence of the Kingdom, on account of the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in the meetings of the G5 Sahel. The latter which is a group that works to ensure the conditions for development and security in a space Member States (Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger and Chad).

In regards to the financial issue, and after discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, the African official stated that this country is in a “complex” situation, which cannot be dealt with “a ready-made formula”.

 

He also noted that “The complexity of this issue shows that we must support the Malian people”.

 

He added that “We are working with partners such as the United Nations, France and the European Union, but the financial issue remains Africa’s challenge above all,”, and called for greater African support.

 

In this regard, he explained that he is counting on Morocco’s support as a conclusion to the meeting held on Thursday with the Secretary-General of the Muhammadiyah League of Scholars, Mr. Ahmed Abadi.

Mr. Sidiko noted that “the association embodies the great work done by Morocco to support us in understanding our Islam: the Islam of tolerance and construction.”

 

On the bilateral level, he highlighted that the African-Moroccan official teaches hundreds of imams and scholars from the Sahel region, and stressed upon the importance of spreading this experience at the continental level.

 

Sambo Sidiko renewed his gratitude to the Moroccan people and to His Majesty the King for the work carried out to benefit the Sahel region, praising in particular the solidarity shown by the Kingdom “that supported countries of the Sahel when the Covid-19 epidemic struck”
