French Minister Delegate Djebbari Praises the Dynamism of Tangier-Med Port

Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, the French Minister Delegate in Charge of Transport, praised yesterday, Thursday in Rabat, the professionalism, capabilities and dynamism of the Tangier-Mediterranean port complex, the largest of its kind in accommodating containers, whether in Africa or the Mediterranean basin.

In a statement to the press after a meeting with Abdelkader Amara, Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, Djebbari said, “bilateral cooperation in the port field is gaining increasing importance at a time when France is investing a lot in this sector.”

On the other hand, he described the cooperation between the French National Railway Company (SNCF) and the Moroccan National Railways Office (ONCF) as a “great success”, whether in terms of sharing experiences or projects to expand the high-speed train network.

For his part, Amara stated that this meeting dealt with various topics on bilateral cooperation, including international road transport, rail transport, forms of trade exchange, maritime transport, as well as transportation at the level of highways, within the framework of public-private partnerships in the infrastructure sector.

The meeting, which featured the participation of high-ranking officials from both countries, was an occasion to review the various activities of bilateral cooperation, especially those related to the areas of road, rail and maritime transport.

This meeting falls within the framework of the 14th French-Moroccan high-level meeting held on December 19th, 2019 in Paris, which strengthened political dialogue, and gave a new impetus to the multi-dimensional and distinct strategic partnership relations between the two countries,.

During his working visit to Morocco from 24th to 26th of March, the French Minister Delegate in charge of transport visited the port complex of Tangier-Med, and the Railway Training Institute, which is a structure supervised by both the SNCF and the ONCF with the aim of establishing its position as a reference actor, especially training in the field of rail transport, whether in traditional lines or high-speed train lines.
