His Majesty The King Calls For The Implementation Of New Development Model In The National Pact For Development

A royal communiqué issued today, Tuesday, May 25th, stated that His Majesty King Mohammed VI presided, at the Royal Palace in Fez, the presentation of the public report prepared by the Development Model Committee (CSMD), and on this occasion he received Chakib Benmoussa, Chairman of the committee, who provided His Majesty with a copy of this report.

The renewal of the development model constitutes a new stage in the consolidation of the community project, led by His Majesty.

It also includes strengthening the link with the values ​​of positive and active citizenship, strengthening the sense of belonging to the nation, and affirming the Moroccan historical and cultural personality, rich with its ancient history, distinguished by its openness and the multiplicity of its components.

In accordance with its mandate, the Committee adopted a multidimensional approach and provided a good framework for its work. In particular, the Committee was able to explore and study the new challenges and changes that have resulted from the Covid-19 pandemic, in many strategic areas, such as health, agriculture, food security, energy, industrial development and tourism.

During this royal reception, His Majesty congratulated the Chairman and members of the Committee for the efforts made and the quality of the work accomplished, which is the product of a broad participatory approach based on listening, discussion and collective innovation, on the renewal of the Moroccan development model.

His Majesty also praised the committee’s full respect for the participatory approach, which His Majesty had called for to adopt in this regard, and on this occasion thanked all the contributors to this national work, from political parties, economic and social bodies, non-governmental organizations, and think tanks. As well as all citizens who participated, across the national territory, in the hearings organized by the committee.

On this occasion, His Majesty called for serious interaction with the results of this work, and to make them serve the development of our country and the well-being of its citizens.

His Majesty also ordered the publication of the report of the Special Development Model Committee, and directed the committee to conduct a broad process to present its work, and to explain its results and recommendations to citizens and various actors, in all regions of the Kingdom.

In this context, all governmental and institutional bodies are invited to actively participate and contribute to the implementation of the relevant recommendations contained in this report, in order to serve this development approach and raise it to the level of the aspirations of His Majesty and all Moroccans.

It is noted that the committee’s innovative proposal, which aims to translate the strategic axes of the new model into a “National Pact for Development”, should be adopted and implemented in a constructive and consensual manner, and with a high sense of responsibility and public interest, as a common frame of reference for all concerned parties.

This royal reception was attended by Head of Government, Saad Dine El Otmani, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Habib El Malki, Speaker of the House of Councilors, Hakim Benchamach, His Majesty’s Advisors, Omar Azziman and Fouad Ali El Himma, and Heads of other constitutional bodies.

Other attendees include Secretaries General and Heads of political parties represented in Parliament, the Secretary General of the Superior Council of Oulema, Mohammed Yessef, Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib, Abdellatif Jouahri, the High Commissioner for Planning, Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises Chakib Elj, and Head of the Professional Association of Moroccan Banks, Othman Benjelloun.
