Emirati Delegation Visits Morocco to Discuss Strengthening of Military Cooperation

Under royal directives, the Minister-Delegate to the Head of Government in Charge of the National Defense Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi, received, yesterday, Monday, March 29th, 2021, Major General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, who is on a visit to the Kingdom heading an important military delegation.

Under royal directives, the Minister-Delegate to the Head of Government in Charge of the National Defense Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi, received, yesterday, Monday, March 29th, 2021, Major General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, who is on a visit to the Kingdom heading an important military delegation.

According to a communiqué from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), this meeting provided an opportunity for the two officials to shed light on the fraternal relations and the quality of the multi-form cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.

The same source added that discussions between the two officials also dealt with strengthening Moroccan-Emirati military cooperation and ways to upgrade it to the level of the distinguished relations and strategic partnership between the two countries.

On the same day, and in implementation of the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, the Lieutenant General of the Army, Inspector General of the FAR, received at the FAR General Staff in Rabat, the Emirati guest and the accompanying military delegation.

The same report indicated that the discussions, which took place in the presence of the heads of the concerned offices as well as members of the Emirati delegation and the military attaché at the UAE embassy in Rabat, dealt with various aspects of military cooperation between the two countries.

On this occasion, the officials expressed their satisfaction with the quality and sustainability of cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries, noting the quality and dynamism of this cooperation based on the deep and historical ties between the two brotherly countries.

The statement indicated that the two officials subsequently discussed various aspects of bilateral military cooperation and ways to strengthen it, especially by encouraging joint action between the two countries’ military forces, and exchanging expertise and experiences.

The military cooperation between the FAR and the UAE Armed Forces is framed by an agreement, signed in May 2006, and concerns, in particular, the areas of training, exchange of visits, as well as operational and technical support.

The communiqué concluded that, based on the joint and explicit will of the two countries, in order to strengthen and deepen bilateral military cooperation, this latter is being developed and enriched on a regular basis, especially thanks to the military committee meetings that take place alternately between Rabat and Abu Dhabi.
