FM Nasser Bourita Meets With Speaker Of Libyan House Of Representatives Aguila Saleh

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, received, today Friday, the Speaker of the Libyan Tobruk-based House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh.

It should be recalled that Aguila Saleh and Khalid al-Mishri, Chairman of the High Council of State in Libya, arrived separately, yesterday Thursday, June 3rd in Rabat, to hold talks with senior Moroccan officials, including Speaker of the House of Representatives, Habib El Malki, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita.

In this regard, Al-Mishri expressed his thanks and gratitude to Morocco for the efforts made to ensure the success of the Libyan dialogue.

For his part, Aguila Saleh affirmed that his country will always be in need of Morocco’s support to achieve stability, given the position the Kingdom enjoys in the international community and the care and attention that His Majesty King Mohammed VI attaches to the Libyan cause.

Saleh, who arrived yesterday, Thursday, at Rabat-Salé airport, said that “Libya, thanks to the efforts of brotherly countries, led by Morocco, has reached the formation of a single executive authority consisting of a presidential council and the Government of National Unity that has begun its work”, adding, “We awaiting the upcoming elections, which are scheduled for December 24th, 2021.”

Libyan consultations with Morocco come as Germany prepares to hold an international conference on Libya on June 24th, in Berlin, to which the Kingdom has been invited.
