Haiti Opens Embassy in Rabat, Reiterates Support for Morocco’s Sahara Issue

The inauguration ceremony took place today, December 12, in the presence of Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and Minister of Foreign and Religious Affairs of the Republic of Haiti, Claude Joseph.

In line with the inauguration, Bourita and his Haitian counterpart signed two bilateral agreements covering various sectors.

The first agreement involves cooperation on higher education and vocational training, agriculture, fisheries, renewable energy, among other economic issues, for the 2021-2023 period.

The second agreement is a memorandum of understanding of the exchange of expertise in the field of foreign affairs and diplomatic relations and training of youth diplomats.

The Republic of Haiti followed closely Morocco’s Sahara issue and recently expressed support for the kingdom’s territorial integrity.

Haiti is among the many countries that showed support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara territory. Other countries include Gabon, Guinea, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Barbados, the United States, etc.
