HM King Mohammed VI: Morocco will Continue to Defend Palestinian Rights

“Morocco has always placed the Palestinian question at the same level as the Moroccan Sahara question.”

HM King Mohammed VI addressed a message to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, reiterating Morocco’s position in favor of the Palestinian cause.

HM King Mohammed VI’s message is a follow-up to a favorable call with President Mahmoud Abbas on December 10, after Morocco agreed to normalize ties with Israel.

In his letter, HM the King expressed that Morocco will always support the Palestinian issue and continue to defend the rights of the Palestinian people, in the context of the internationally agreed-upon two-state solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

As Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, HM the King stressed that he will “spare no effort” to preserve the ancestral identity of the Holy City of Al-Quds as a land of cohabitation and harmony between the monotheistic religions, reported Moroccan official news agency, Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP).

HM the King said that Morocco places the Palestinian question at the same level as the Moroccan Sahara question, reaffirming that the Kingdom’s action to claim sovereignty over its Sahara will never be done in a way that harms the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights.

HM the King also said that he will convene the 21st Session of the Al-Quds Committee in Morocco to discuss ways to safeguard Al-Quds’ special status and religious and historical identity.

HM King Mohammed VI received yesterday, December 22, Donald Trump’s Senior Advisor to the US government, Jared Kushner, and Israel’s national security advisor, Meir Ben-Shabbat at the Royal Palace in Rabat where they signed a joint declaration to re-establish and strengthen ties.
