International Support for Morocco’s Guerguerat Operation Reaches 60 Countries

Almost one month after the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces launched a military operation in Guerguerat, the town hosting the Morocco-Mauritania border, international support for the event has been growing day-by-day.

Of 64 countries which have reacted to Morocco’s military operation to ensure civil and commercial traffic resumption, only four of which have expressed support for Separatist “Polisario” Front’s vandalizing actions.

Those countries include Algeria, Namibia, Cuba, and Venezuela’s illegitimate President Nicolas Maduro’s administration. It is important to note that Nicolas Maduro is neither recognized by the U.S. government nor by the OAS (Organization of American States).

In a letter sent to the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, Juan Guaidó expressed that Venezuela firmly stands behind the Royal Armed Forces’ peaceful actions conducted on the 13th of last month.

Of those 60 countries supporting Morocco’s actions, 9 are Arab nations, and 22 are members of the African Union.

Support for Morocco’s military operations does not stop there. 16 European nations have expressed their positions on the events of last month. Most of them have either supported Morocco’s actions or called on both parties to have self-control and respect the cease-fire brokered by the United Nations in 1991.

In Asia, Japan has expressed the importance of ensuring freedom of movement of both people and goods through the border crossing. At the same time, Azerbaijan reiterated its support for Morocco’s territorial sovereignty over the Moroccan Sahara.

South America, a continent that has shown a lot of support for the Polisario Front in recent years, has also started shifting support and has since declared its backing of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara. Those countries included Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Parliament of Peru, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Panama, and Parliament in Saint Lucia.
