Macron accuses Lebanese leaders of betrayal

French President Emmanuel Macron accused on Sunday Hezbollah of sabotaging the constitution of a reformist government to encourage international assistance into the crisis-stricken country.

“They have decided to betray this commitment (forming a government),” Macron told reporters, declaring he was “ashamed” of the country’s leaders.

Lebanon’s premier-designate Mustapha Adib stepped down on Saturday, saying he had been unable to form a reform-minded government.
