On March 17th, 2021, in Moscow, the Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov had a meeting with the Ambassador of Morocco to Russia, Lotfi Bouchaara.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation indicates that during this meeting, Bogdanov and Bouchaara discussed current issues concerning the strengthening of traditional relations of friendship between Russia and Morocco, including the deepening of policy dialogue, the expansion of economic, commercial and humanitarian ties, as well as interactions in the fight against Covid-19.

In addition to strengthening bilateral relations, the two officials exchanged views with interest on the current situation in North Africa.

Meanwhile, the Moroccan Ambassador also spoke with Sergei Vershinin, a second Deputy Foreign Minister, about the political dialogue between Morocco and Russia and other national matters.

The Russian diplomacy’ statement indicates that the two officials examined “current aspects of Russian-Moroccan interaction within the UN” and exchanged views on issues on the Security Council’s agenda, while focusing on the situation in the Middle East and North Africa and on the process of settling the Sahara issue.
