Following Algeria’s airing in “Weekend Story” show on their Ashuruq TV channel of a personification of HM king of Morocco, Mohammed VI, mockingly questioning issues of national sovereignty in a pathetic and unprofessional way, Moroccans from all over the world united to denounce such an act that stems from Algeria’s deep hatred and envy towards Morocco.

This act came following an accumulation of attempts to provoke Moroccans following US official recognition of the Moroccan Sahara which came as a nerve-racking experience for Algeria after separatist “Polisario” fueled by Algeria had blocked the Moroccan Guerguerat crossing which links Morocco to Africa.

Moroccans on social media started sharing pictures of HM King Mohammed VI on their profiles as a gesture of unity and a reaction to Algeria’s provocation.

On his part, Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad, has previously affirmed that during the previous weeks, Algeria has summoned all its official media agencies to publish news and releases targeting the Moroccan Sahara as it considers it its primary national issue allotting it more priority than its national issues or even the Palestinian case.

He further added that Algeria’s number of press releases reached 50 all from the government, the presidency of the republic, the army, the political parties, the parliament and the Imams of Mosques.
