The Minister Delegate in charge of Moroccans living abroad, Nezha El Ouafi, and the Mexican Ambassador in Rabat, Mabel Gomez Olivier, agreed to give the bilateral partnership in the field of migration an exceptional strategic dimension within the framework of South-South cooperation. This commitment was expressed during a meeting that took place Tuesday in Rabat.

During the same meeting, the two officials decided to work towards strengthening the cooperation between the two countries, through the establishment of a common action plan to share experiences and expertise acquired in the field of migration, indicates a statement from the ministry.

This interview is part of the consolidation of bilateral relations in the field of management and governance of migration, particularly concerning the communities of the two countries residing abroad, and their contribution to the various development projects, in a context marked by the impacts of the health crisis related to the Covid-19 pandemic, specified the statement.

On this occasion, Olivier reviewed her country’s experience in mobilizing Mexicans living abroad, and their adhesion to investment and local development projects in their country of origin, highlighted the statement.

For her part, El Ouafi stressed that the Moroccan and foreign diaspora contributes to the socio-economic development not only of the host countries, but also of their countries of origin.
