Morocco Suspends Contact with the German Embassy due to a “Profound Misunderstanding”

The decision came due to a deep misunderstanding with Germany on fundamental issues of concern to the Kingdom of Morocco.

Amid ambiguity over the background of the decision, the Kingdom of Morocco announced today the suspension of all communication mechanisms with the German embassy in Rabat.

A letter addressed by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad, to Saad Eddine El Othmani, Head of the Moroccan government, and also to its members, confirmed that this decision came due to a deep misunderstanding with Germany on fundamental issues of concern to the Kingdom of Morocco.

In this correspondence, Bourita called for the cessation of any contact or cooperation with the German embassy, ​​as well as German cooperation organizations and political institutions that have ties to the embassy.
