Morocco Threatens To Permanently Sever Ties With Spain If Polisario Leader Leaves Territory The Same Way He Entered

Morocco’s ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, warned that if Spain chooses to allow Brahim Ghali to leave Spanish territory the same way he entered, then it would be choosing to cut bilateral relations.

Spanish EFE News agency reported Benyaich saying that Moroccan – Spanish relations are experiencing a “serious crisis”.

In this regard, the Moroccan ambassador pointed out that what is happening with Ghali “is a test for the independence of the Spanish judiciary which we fully trust”, but it is also another test to see if Spain “chooses to strengthen its relations with Morocco or prefers to cooperate with enemies.”

According to Benyaich, Spain “unfortunately chose not being transparent and working behind Morocco’s back by welcoming this criminal and executioner and protecting him under a humanitarian pretext, and thus offending the dignity of the Moroccan people.”
