Morocco’s FM Nasser Bourita Holds Videoconference with his Omani Counterpart

Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, held today Tuesday a videoconference with his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood al-Busaid, and this falls within the framework of fraternal relations between the two countries and their tradition of consultation and political coordination.

Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, held today Tuesday a videoconference with his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood al-Busaid, and this falls within the framework of fraternal relations between the two countries and their tradition of consultation and political coordination.

During this interview, FM Bourita and Al-Busaid outlined relations between the two brotherly countries in the various fields, which have been living at the rate of a positive dynamic since the 5th joint commission that the two ministers chaired in January 2019 in Muscat, indicates a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad.

The two parties also expressed their willingness to hold the next joint commission in Morocco, as soon as the health situation related to the new coronavirus pandemic improves, adds the same source. Several topical Arab and regional issues were addressed during these talks, on which a convergence of views emerged, notes the press release.

The release further noted that the two ministers underlined the vision shared by Morocco and the Sultanate of Oman on the preeminence of dialogue and understanding to resolve conflicts in the Arab region, so as to guarantee the security, stability and territorial integrity of countries far from any division or separatism.

On this occasion, FM Bourita welcomed the constant position of the Sultanate of Oman in support of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara and the unity of its territories, and the measures taken by the Kingdom to defend its security and its sovereignty. He also highlighted the leading role that the Sultanate continues to play in the region, thanks to the enlightened leadership of Sultan Haitham Ben Tarek, as well as his efforts to bring together points of view on a number of regional and international issues.

For his part, Al-Busaid highly praised the wise policy of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and his pioneering role in the defense of Arab and Islamic issues, at their head the Palestinian cause and Al- Quds Acharif, as a land of coexistence between monotheistic religions, concludes the press release.
