US State Department reiterating its recognition of the Moroccan Sahara

The US State Department issued a new statement this evening about its position on Morocco's claim over The Sahara.

On Thursday, US State Department spokesperson, Ned Price, confirmed that Washington’s position “has not changed regarding Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.”

The State Department spokesperson added that the United States supports the political process led by the United Nations “to reach pacification and stability as to the situation on the borders”.

 

Moreover, Price stated, in the daily press briefing, that the United States “supports the decision to appoint a special envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Sahara.”
