Akhannouch was welcomed by Lula Da Silva and his vice president at the Palacio Planalto, the seat of the executive power, after attending the solemn investiture ceremony of the new Brazilian head of state and his vice president, Geraldo Jose Rodrigues de Alckmin Filho, held at the Congress headquarters.

On October 30, Lula Da Silva defeated Jair Bolsonaro by 1.8 percentage points to win the presidential election, garnering 50.9% of the vote in the second round (49.1 per cent).

In a letter of congratulations sent to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on the occasion of his election, His Majesty King Mohammed VI expressed “His consideration for the relations of solid friendship and fruitful cooperation in all fields uniting the Kingdom of Morocco and the Federal Republic of Brazil, and assuring of His willingness to work together with Mr. Lula da Silva to enshrine the multidimensional strategic partnership between the two countries.”

Between 2003 and 2010, Lula Da Silva has previously served as president of the Republic of Brazil.
