The Israeli official continued: “These initiatives and others in many spheres of cooperation made feasible owing to the Historic agreements and peace treaties negotiated between Israel and four Arab countries,” during the 2023 United Nations Water Conference in New York.

Israeli tabloids stated that Nizar Baraka, the minister of equipment and water, met Akunis on Wednesday in New York.

According to the same sources, the two representatives spoke before the 2023 United Nations Water Conference.

The same sources state that the two ministers talked about deepening bilateral ties between their nations in the area of water management during this encounter.

Morocco holds off on substantial moves in its relations with Israel until Tel Aviv makes its position on the Western Sahara known.

Although if collaboration in many areas is growing, the newly normalized partner countries still need to communicate more in the fields of politics and foreign policy.

This summit takes place amid rising tensions between Israel and other Arab nations, including the Kingdom, as a result of remarks made by Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who claimed that “there is no Palestinian people.”

The comment was labeled as “inappropriate and reckless” by both Paris and Washington.

Morocco has acknowledged that it is concerned about several statements made by Israeli government officials that were provocative against Arab nations and the rights of the Palestinian people.

Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, declared that “Morocco always rejects every reckless behavior, and every act that could be inflammatory or have a negative effect,” on the eve of his meeting with the Burkina Faso Foreign Minister.

Bourita emphasized that Morocco, whose King Mohammed VI serves as the Quds Committee’s chairman, has consistently emphasized that negotiations are the only way to bring about a permanent resolution to the Palestinian problem, within the framework of respecting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their state within the boundaries of 1967 and to have East Jerusalem as their capital that coexists with Israel.

Despite the circumstances surrounding the Omicron variant, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced on Sunday that his government would begin lifting restrictions on overseas travel this week.

As a result, Israel’s Health Ministry will allow tourists from 198 countries on the Orange List, including Morocco, which was recently moved from the Red List to the Orange List, to enter the country if they show proof of immunization or have recovered from COVID-19. Before and after their arrival at the airport, these passengers will be submitted to a second PCR test.

South Africa, Nigeria, Spain, Portugal, France, and Canada have also been suggested for red listing by the Israeli Ministry of Health, as they are currently among 16 nations identified as having a high risk of getting COVID-19.

The red list, on the other hand, will continue to include the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mexico, Switzerland, and Turkey. Travelers from these countries must obtain special approval from an Israeli committee in order to enter Israel.

Israel had previously announced a travel ban on November 28th, making it the first country to close its borders in response to the rapid spread of the Omicron variety.

Since the restoration of relations between the two nations last year, Morocco has received an Israeli security advisor and Israel’s foreign minister, but this is the first time an Israeli defense minister has paid an official visit to the country.

Gantz will leave Tel Aviv on Tuesday evening for Morocco, where he will sign an agreement that “draws the outlines of military cooperation between the two countries,” according to his office, and will leave the country on Thursday.

According to an Israeli official, the purpose of this visit is to “set the groundwork for the formation of future security relations between Israel and Morocco.” “We had some cooperation before, but we’ll formalize it now.” It is a public declaration of our relationship.”

Following the conclusion of the Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1993, the two nations established diplomatic relations before Rabat severed them due to the second Palestinian intifada in 2000.

Gantz’s travel to Morocco comes three months after the two countries announced an agreement to increase diplomatic representation from two liaison offices to two embassies during Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid’s visit to the kingdom, which has yet to be implemented.

It was also stated last month in terms of economics. Ratio Petroleum, an Israeli corporation, established a cooperation with Rabat to explore gas resources on the Moroccan Sahara Dakhla coast.

Morocco, along with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia, was one of four Arab countries to normalize relations with Israel last year under US-backed deals.

In August of this year, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid visited Morocco for the first time since 2003, and in late October, Israel rescinded its decade-long travel warning against the country.

Moroccan officials define the resumption of diplomatic relations with Israel, which includes the establishment of liaison offices and the beginning of flights between the two countries, as a restoration of mid-level connections.

For centuries prior to the creation of Israel as a state in 1948, the North African kingdom was home to one of the greatest Jewish communities in North Africa and the Middle East.
