Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States of America, left Marrakech on Monday after a three-day trip to Morocco. She departed from Marrakech’s Menara International Airport.

Jill Biden was welcomed by Samir Koudar, president of the Regional Council, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, president of the Marrakech Communal Council, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, and Puneet Talwar, US Ambassador to Morocco and his spouse Sattar Sarash as she departed from the international airport in Marrakech-Menara.

Jill Biden’s trip to Morocco with her sister Bobby Jacobs, daughter Ashley Biden, and other family members was an additional chance to emphasize the long-standing relationship and partnership between the United States of America and the Kingdom.

The First Lady of the United States stated in a speech on Sunday in Marrakech that “under His Majesty King Mohammed the Sixth’s leadership, Morocco is encouraging reforms to empower women and youth, reflecting our shared priorities.”

She emphasized that the United States is appreciative of its “longstanding friendship and partnership with Morocco”.

The US First Lady visited the Ennakhil Association for Women and Children (AEFE) on Sunday after touring the Ben Youssef Madrasa, a historically significant architectural gem situated in the center of Marrakech’s ancient Medina. This visit gave her the chance to learn more about the Association’s initiatives to support women and girls facing challenging circumstances.

Jill Biden also paid a visit to the Ibn Al Arif high school while she was in Marrakech. The school benefited from the “Secondary Education” project under the “Compact II” cooperation program between the governments of the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States, represented by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and carried out by the Millennium Challenge Account-Morocco (MCA-Morocco).

Marrakech – On Sunday, U.S. First Lady Jill Biden paid a visit to the Ben Youssef Madrasa, giving everyone a chance to learn about and admire this historically significant architectural gem in the center of Marrakech’s old Medina.

The Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region and Governor of the Marrakesh Prefecture, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, the President of the Marrakesh Municipal Council, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, and the President of the Regional Council, Samir Koudar, all greeted the first lady of the United States of America upon her arrival.

The First Lady of the United States was given information about this historical and architectural site of exceptional beauty, testimony to a bright stage of the Kingdom’s secular history, as she toured the many rooms of this historical and educational institution.

Jill Biden was also given a briefing on the function and goals of this structure as a central location for Islamic education and study, with an emphasis primarily on Quranic studies and Islamic sciences.

The Ben Youssef Madrasa, whose building is an exquisite example of Moroccan and Andalusian know-how, had formerly served as a theological faculty and attracted students from all regions of North Africa and overseas.

The Madrasa was named after the Merinid Sultan Abu Al Hassan Ali Ibn Othman, commonly known as Ben Youssef, who ruled at the beginning of the 14th century and was established in 1565 by Sultan Abdellah Al-Ghalib.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI initiated the restoration work on the Madrasa in 2017 with the goal of preserving and enhancing this historically significant cultural and civilizational site. The restoration work was eventually finished, considerably enhancing this iconic structure.

Marrakech – On Saturday afternoon, Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States of America, touched down in Marrakech to begin a trip to Morocco.

Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa welcomed Jill Biden at the Marrakech-Ménara Airport once she arrived in.

After viewing a guard of honor from the Auxiliary Forces, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa and the First Lady of the United States of America were welcomed by Karim Kassi-Lahlou, Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region and Governor of the Marrakech Prefecture, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, President of the Marrakech Communal Council, and Samir Koudar, President of the Regional Council.

U.S. Ambassador Puneet Talwar and his wife Sattar Sarash, as well as U.S. Consul General Lawrence Randolph, welcomed Her Royal Highness and Jill Biden.

The First Lady of the United States of America, Jill Biden, was then welcomed to the customary ceremonial of offering milk and dates. She is joined in this visit by her daughter Ashley Biden and her sister Bobby Jacobs.

On a forthcoming journey to the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe, Jill Biden will support youth and female empowerment and attend Jordan’s royal wedding.

The first lady was slated to leave on a six-day tour to Egypt, Morocco, and Portugal on Wednesday. The Associated Press was originally informed by her office of some information.

As first lady, Biden will make her first trip to the Middle East. In February, she visited Namibia and Kenya.

The first lady, according to Vanessa Valdivia, her spokesperson, “believes that supporting youth across the globe is critical to our common future, with education, health, and empowerment at the heart of it.”

“The first lady will continue to build on her work to empower young people with her visit to the Middle East and North Africa,” Valdivia said in an email. “We commit to strengthening our partnerships and advancing our shared priorities in the region.”
