In this regard, the director of Emirates News Agency (WAM) in Paris adds that Morocco decided not to follow the principle of reciprocity, by allowing Algerian farmers at the borders to continue to access Moroccan lands, without any hindrances, specifically the Djehifet Oasis, which supplies them with drinking water.

He also considered that Morocco does not treat Algeria reciprocally, and does not involve the people in political disputes, because history records everything.

For reference, the border crisis in the region dates back to the 1972 agreement that was ratified only by the Algerian parliament, and not by its Moroccan counterpart. This agreement indicates that the border is Oued El Arja, based on a topographic survey conducted by both Moroccan and Algerian armies.

However, actors in the region consider that the agreement contains ambiguous data that refer to the “unnamed valley”, which is a valley adjacent to the mountainside.
