Prince Moulay Rachid opened the 18th International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM) on Monday in Meknes. King Mohammed VI placed the event under his High Patronage. It runs from April 20 to 28.

This year’s theme focuses on sustainable animal production and food sovereignty. It reflects Morocco’s efforts to address climate change and food security challenges.

The Prince reviewed an honor guard upon arrival. Several officials then welcomed him, including government representatives and international guests, among them was HRH Princess Sara bint Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Executive Director of the International Dates Council (IDC), along with the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, the Wali of the Fez-Meknes region, the President of the Fez-Meknes Regional Council, the Governor of the Meknes Prefecture, the President of the Meknes Prefectural Council, the President of the Meknes Municipal Council, and the President of the Mechouar Stinia municipality.

During the ceremony, he awarded quality labels to agricultural cooperatives. These included recognized products such as almonds, cumin, sweet pepper, and olive oil from different regions.

Portugal is the guest of honor this year. Its Minister of Agriculture attended the opening, along with delegations from several countries.

The Prince toured different sections of the exhibition. These included animal production, food security, and agricultural services. He also visited areas dedicated to innovation, digital agriculture, machinery, and local products.

The exhibition covers 37 hectares at Sahrij Souani in Meknes. It brings together participants from 70 countries. Organizers expect more than one million visitors.

More than 1,500 exhibitors are taking part. The event also includes 500 cooperatives, 200 breeders, and 45 foreign delegations.

Since its launch, SIAM has become a major agricultural event. It gathers policymakers, professionals, and international partners.

The exhibition promotes innovation and cooperation. It also supports Morocco’s goal of building a modern and sustainable agricultural sector.
