The discussions centered on ways to cooperate in relation to Morocco’s experience developing its agriculture under the Generation Green plan and the successes of the Green Morocco Plan.

The development of value chains to ensure the upstream-downstream integration of production chains, guarantee value, in particular the experience of developing agropoles that aim to increase agricultural value added and its maintenance at the level of production basins in order to act on local social development, especially by creating employment and services around the ecosystem, were at the center of the discussions, according to a statement by the minister.
The same source said that this axis also focuses on the problem of modernizing marketing channels through the growth of logistics (wholesale markets, weekly markets, and slaughterhouses), quality control, and traceability.

Along with governance of the agricultural sector, which is based on an approach of stakeholder accountability through public-private contracting, with an organization of the profession in a federation of inter-professions, training and development of human resources, the discussions also covered the control of irrigation water through its mobilization and modernization of irrigation systems that ensure water savings, a key factor for resilience and sustainability.
The third issue addressed has to do with research and innovation that enable adaptation and creation of methods and technologies suitable for various agricultural systems and adaptation to climate change.

The discussions also centered on Morocco’s South-South and triangular cooperation strategies, which are important because they reflect His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s goals.

The ratification of the “Dakar Declaration” marked the conclusion of the Dakar 2 Summit on Food Sovereignty on Friday in Diamniadio, 30 km from Dakar.
Representatives from about 20 nations attended the summit, which took place from January 25 to 27 at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center (CICAD) in Diamniadio. The Kingdom of Morocco was represented by a significant delegation headed by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.
