Fired from his position as Chair of the Board of Directors of Galvani Bioelectronics for sexual misconduct, Moncef Slaoui apologizes to his former colleague.

In a statement posted on PRNewswire, Moncef Slaoui said he was taking time off duty to focus on his family to whom he also apologized. “It is with deep regret that I acknowledge today’s statement from GlaxoSmithKline regarding my termination as Chair of the Galvani Board of Directors,” Slaoui said in a statement yesterday Wednesday, March 24th.

“I have the utmost respect for my colleagues and feel terrible that my actions have put a former colleague in an uncomfortable situation. I would like to apologise unreservedly to the employee concerned and I am deeply sorry for any distress caused”, he said.

This comes after the board of directors of GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK) has previously announced the termination of Dr. Slaoui’s contract, with immediate effect.

The dismissal follows the receipt of a “letter containing allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct towards an employee of GSK by Dr. Slaoui, which occurred several years ago when he was an employee of GSK”, announced the group in a press release.

Upon receipt of the letter, GSK’s board immediately opened an investigation via an experienced law firm to investigate the allegations, the same source continues.

The investigation into Dr. Slaoui’s conduct has corroborated the allegations and is still ongoing, continues the group, which stresses that “Dr. Slaoui’s behaviors are wholly unacceptable”, adding that “sexual harassment is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated”.

It is noted that Dr. Slaoui, who spent 30 years at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), served as Chief Scientist for “Operation Warp Speed”, the US government’s project to develop vaccines against Covid-19.

Following Moncef Slaoui’s resignation from Operation Warp Speed, Biden picks former F.D.A. chief to lead federal vaccine efforts.

David Kessler is the one who is going to take the lead and become the top science official for the Operation Warp Speed as the Trump administration named it.

David Kessler contributed in the development and approval of AIDS drugs back in the 1990s.

Under the request of president-elect Joe Biden, David Kessler was summoned to take the lead in accelerating the progress, manufacture and distribution of Covid-19 vaccines.

David Kessler headed the F.D.A. back in George Bush and Bill Clinton administration and was appointed the key adviser to Biden on Covid-19 policy.

The new team aims at fulfilling Biden’s promise to Americans of getting 100 million Covid vaccine shots into the arms of the American people by his 100^th day in office.

Moncef Slaoui has fulfilled his promise of developing two separate Covid-19 vaccines which he has done in due time. However, he lagged behind in fulfilling Trump’s promise of vaccinating 20 million people by the end of 2020 and thus succeeded in vaccinating about 11 million people according to statistics by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Moncef Slaoui, Chief Advisor of Operation Warm Speed, to resign under the request of the new Biden administration according to undisclosed sources from CNBC.

It is not yet clear who is going to take the lead after Moncef Slaoui for the Biden team. Moncef’s contract includes 30 days’ notice prior to termination; thus, he is expected to leave by February 12^th.

On his part, Moncef Slaoui has expressed his previous will to step down after the clearance of two vaccines and two therapies for Covid-19 into the market which had been fulfilled last month with the clearance of Moderna’s vaccine.

Slaoui earned $1.000 for his position at Operation Warp Speed; however, he confirmed that he is planning to donate the amount to scientific research.

Moncef Slaoui from Moroccan origins has stirred a huge wave of appraisal within the Moroccan community. Moroccans all over the world felt proud when Moncef Slaoui took the lead in Operation Warp Speed and promised to find a vaccine for the Covid-19.

During his position at Operation Warp Speed, two vaccines, Pfizer and Moderna, have been authorized in the U.S. with 95% efficacy in preventing disease.

Johnson & Johnson promised pivotal results on its vaccine which is offering the potential for just one dose instead. The vaccine is expected within a couple of weeks. This vaccine development is considered the fastest one in history.
