Talbi Alami said during a speech honoring former Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev’s 100th birthday that “we share with your country, just like with other brotherly and friendly countries present among us, the same national, historical, political, and ethical responsibility in countering secession, protecting territorial integrity, and fiercely and tirelessly defending national sovereignty.”

Additionally, he said, “We share the same commitment to achieving economic ascension and social cohesion under the Rule of Law, the State of institutions, and real pluralism, which is a fundamental component of our identity and essence.”

“In the Moroccan case, our success story is associated with three glorious Kings: the founder of modern Morocco and its united nation, the late King Hassan II, and the leader of Morocco’s present emergence, His Majesty King Mohammed VI,” said Mr. Talbi Alami, emphasizing that both countries have many things in common and share a variety of horizons.

“One of the lessons that one can draw from the success story of Azerbaijan (the Land of Fire and Lights) is that Islam and traditions, on the one hand, and progress, on the other, can actually go together,” he said, adding that it is the same lesson that other success stories in Eurasia, the Arab Gulf, the Middle East, as well as in the Moroccan model confirm.

According to Mr. Talbi Alami, the success of Azerbaijan is evidence that diversity and difference, while respecting each country’s unique circumstances, contexts, and political traditions, are true assets for advancement and evolution, as opposed to replicating pre-existing cultural and political models and imposing them on the rest of the world, which typically results in stalemate and cultural schizophrenia.

President Heydar Aliyev’s name is unquestionably linked to Azerbaijan’s renaissance if history of nations is, in some cases, connected to particular names that populations revere and remember, he said, adding that the nation is currently one of the striking examples of ascending renaissance despite the difficult regional and international circumstances.

According to Mr. Talbi Alami, Azerbaijan is one of the nations that demonstrate that democracy and modernity are compatible with a moderate and tolerant form of Islam. This is due to the country’s accomplishments, cultural diversity, population awareness levels, and ability to innovate in the production and distribution of wealth.

In particular, Mr. Talbi Alami will meet with the speaker of the Azeri National Assembly during his time in Baku to address bilateral matters with heads of parliaments and delegations that are taking part in the festivities.

Morocco has made significant progress in strengthening democracy, development, and the economy, Ramirez said in a press statement following her meeting with Rachid Talbi Alami, Speaker of the House of Representatives, noting that the two countries face similar challenges and have similar perspectives on many issues.

“We will work to strengthen and improve our ties in the near future,” she stressed.

In response to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on both countries, the Colombian official stated that these challenges are “an opportunity for economic takeoff” for her country, as well as for Morocco, which has made significant progress in terms of health coverage and mass vaccination, allowing it to overcome this stage of the crisis.

Talbi Alami, for one, said the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ways to deepen bilateral cooperation and solve concerns and challenges that the two countries face.

The discussions also covered the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, he added, noting that the Colombian official praised Morocco’s experience in containing the virus and welcomed the Kingdom’s vaccination operation, which was closely followed by South American countries, particularly Colombia.

Talbi Alami also remarked on both countries’ willingness to work toward economic recovery and to address the economic and social difficulties caused by the health crisis.
