Achraf Hakimi, a football player for Paris Saint-Germain, is currently the subject of a rape investigation. A young woman who spoke to the police at Nogent-sur-Marne station over the weekend reported the incident. According to Le Parisien media, the prosecution has taken up the case even though she initially chose not to file a complaint.

Due to the gravity of the allegations and the celebrity’s involvement, the on-duty police officer immediately contacted his superiors and the Créteil public prosecutor’s office. The alleged victim, a 23-year-old Fontenay-sous-Bois resident, stated that she preferred to “make a statement of rape” as opposed to making a formal complaint.

Since the alleged incident took place in Boulogne-Billancourt, the case was initially handled by the public prosecutor’s office in Créteil before being transferred to the office in Nanterre. The investigation was started on Monday using the complainant’s comments, but the investigating service had not yet been contacted.

The alleged victim claims that on January 16, she had her first Instagram conversation with Achraf Hakimi. On February 25, she traveled to Hakimi’s home in Boulogne using an Uber that he had arranged for her. She reportedly objected when the Moroccan player kissed her on the mouth, lifted her clothes, and kissed her breasts there. Despite her denials, he allegedly also engaged in digital penetration. He was pushed aside by the woman, who was able to flee by using her foot.

She texted a friend after the incident, and they came to pick her up. Due to thight soreness, the footballer missed a game on Sunday night, and le Le Parisien reported that his wife and two children were reportedly on vacation in Dubai, leaving him likely alone at home.

The Saad Lamjarred case is causing quite a stir on Moroccan social media sites, with the singer’s celebrities and fans who defend him and detractors engaging in heated discussions in the wake of his conviction on rape-related charges.

On Thursday, Saad Lmajarred was found guilty of aggravated rape and given a six-year prison sentence. Almost immediately, two diametrically opposed camps of Moroccan commenters—particularly those who were fellow celebrities and singers—took to social media to either condemn Lamajarred or—mostly—to express solidarity and support.

Some of his supporters question the Paris court’s decision finding him guilty of sexual assault, claiming the rape accusations are unfounded.

Dunia Batma, a Moroccan singer who was found guilty of blackmail in 2021 and was given a one-year prison sentence, posted on Instagram today expressing her prayers for Lamjarred and her outrage at Laura Prioul, the French woman whose complaint led to Lamjarred’s trial.

“Not sure exactly what to say… My brother Saad, his parents, and his supporters are in my prayers. We support you and eagerly await your return,” Batma wrote before expressing her outrage over Lamjarred’s French victim.

Saad Lamjarred has previously been charged with rape. The singer was accused of rape for the first time by an American woman in 2010, and in 2016 and 2018 he was accused of rape in France.

Lamjarred has ten days to file an appeal against the Paris court’s decision to sentence him to a six-year prison term. The 2018 case is still under investigation, while the 2016 sexual assault case has a verdict.

Hatim Ammor, another Moroccan musician, also posted on Instagram to show support for the 33-year-old singer who is currently incarcerated.

Ammor wrote on his Instagram page alongside a photo of him and Lamjarred, “The eye tears and the heart mourns, and we are very sad over the ordeal. I ask God to give you perseverance and fortitude.

While the majority of celebrities who commented on the post appeared to believe Lamjarred is innocent, some took a slightly different stance and suggested that he might have made a mistake. Mariam Hussein, a Moroccan actress, appeared to take issue with the victim in an Instagram post and responded, “God is all forgiving.”

After accompanying a male celebrity to his hotel room “after a night of partying,” Laura Prioul, the French woman who accused Lamjarred of raping her there, should have anticipated “nothing less.”

The Moroccan actress appeared to contend throughout the remainder of her post that the case against Lamjarred might be a straightforward political plot intended to end his career.

A six-year prison sentence is not enough 

The verdict was praised as just by many Moroccans, who expressed regret that Lamjarred would only serve six years instead of the “much deserved” 20.

Someone from Morocco who uses Twitter posted a video claiming that those who continue to support Saad Lamjarred are actually “mentally enslaved.”

Others who use social media to communicate expressed support for the prison term, tweeting: “Saad Lamjarred finally going to rot in jail? in addition to six years? For times like THIS, we prayed.

Some particularly incensed social media users went so far as to accuse some of Lamjarred’s supporters of complicity in what they described as rape culture in order to express their outrage at the disgraced singer.

This group of critics claimed that Moroccan celebrities supporting Lamjarred was an attempt to normalize rape. One tweeted: “Moroccan artists supporting Saad Lamjarred because they are also rapists.”

We often think that pedophiles and rapists are easily distinguished from their physical appearances. So, we think that kids might easily spot one and run away. However, it is too good to be true.

Sexual predators live among us, they have a job, wear appropriately, talk to us, come to our houses over dinner; they are friends, colleagues and family, males and females. Once we have established this fact. Spotting one is like finding a needle in a haystack.

While they might be portrayed as impulsive entities lacking the ability to control their thoughts or behaviors (which is sometimes true), science proves the opposite. However, there are cues that we can look for in order to avoid one. We should pay close attention to acquaintances that try to establish rapport with our kids in our presence. This is quite dangerous because we give credibility to this person and the kids trust them. Colleagues or family members that inquire a lot about our kids usually raise a red flag. Avoid people with history. Sometimes a predator might admit that they have been wrongly accused of molesting, history repeats itself. Don’t mention that you have kids to strangers, they don’t need to know.

What is ironic and nerve-racking is the fact that in Morocco it’s quite easy to get away with child rape than with consensual sex with a member of the opposite sex. It’s culturally inappropriate for a couple to have sex outside wedlock. Therefore, people in the neighborhood easily spot a couple trying to have sex. They gather and try to kick them out of the house or even call the police. On the other hand, a man carrying a kid or holding their hand luring them into his place doesn’t raise any suspicions at all, it’s a normal scene.

Parents must keep an eye on their kids all the time. Never trust their kids with anyone. In addition to that, schools, NGO’s and the Media should sensitize kids about the dangers of talking to strangers through different campaigns and programs.
