The warning came after the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, criticized the “unfair distribution” of vaccines in the world, calling on the rich countries that “store” huge quantities of these vaccines to share part of them with the rest of the world to put an end to the pandemic.

“The gap between the number of vaccines provided in rich countries and the number of vaccines distributed COVAX is expanding every day”, said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of WHO, during a virtual meeting hosted by the UAE to discuss the issue of vaccine distribution.

He continued, “The unfair distribution of vaccines is not just an ethical dilemma, it is also an economic and epidemic self-defeat,” adding, “as long as the virus continues to spread, death will continue, trade and travel will be disrupted, and the economic recovery will be delayed further.”

David Kessler is the one who is going to take the lead and become the top science official for the Operation Warp Speed as the Trump administration named it.

David Kessler contributed in the development and approval of AIDS drugs back in the 1990s.

Under the request of president-elect Joe Biden, David Kessler was summoned to take the lead in accelerating the progress, manufacture and distribution of Covid-19 vaccines.

David Kessler headed the F.D.A. back in George Bush and Bill Clinton administration and was appointed the key adviser to Biden on Covid-19 policy.

The new team aims at fulfilling Biden’s promise to Americans of getting 100 million Covid vaccine shots into the arms of the American people by his 100th day in office.

Moncef Slaoui has fulfilled his promise of developing two separate Covid-19 vaccines which he has done in due time. However, he lagged behind in fulfilling Trump’s promise of vaccinating 20 million people by the end of 2020 and thus succeeded in vaccinating about 11 million people according to statistics by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Campaign’s Motto “We don’t all have strong immunity against the Flu.. Let’s get vaccinated and save ourselves and our beloved ones.”

The Campaign targets people with great vulnerability to the flu which may lead to their death. Such as pregnant women, people with chronic diseases (Chronic Kidney Disease, Diabetics, Heart Diseases, Chronic Lung Disease…), Senior citizens of 65 years old and above and children less than 5 years old.

The vaccine is strongly recommended also for health officials for the preventive role it plays within their personal and social environment. It also prevents the transmission of flu to their patients within heath establishments.

It’s worth noting that the present vaccine is composed of a quadripartite formula modified annually based on World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations.

Under the exceptional global health situation, the spread of the flu and SARS-COV2 simultaneously is highly probable in Morocco.

The Ministry of Health strongly recommends the importance of the availability of the Vaccine all over Morocco for people with high vulnerability.

The Ministry recommends respecting the Covid-19 preventive measures, general hygiene and social distancing as they help prevent Covid-19 and Flu infections.
