The Royal Football Federation of Morocco (FRMF) announced on Wednesday that Anass Zaroury will take the position of Harit, who suffered a catastrophic injury on Sunday, only one week before the World Cup’s start. Zaroury, 22, has participated in a number of national youth teams for Belgium.

With the U-17 squad, he made his international debut in 2017. Over the subsequent four years, he also participated for the U-18, U-19, and U-21 teams.

The winger has been a member of England’s Championship team Burnley since September, and he quickly established himself as one of the key players. This season, he contributed two assists and eight goals to the team.

In the 58th minute of Monaco’s match against Marseille last Sunday, Harit, 25, was hurt as he collided with Axel Disasi.

After his debut at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Harit was ready to compete in his second World Cup in a row. However, the injury has ruined his prospects of competing in the event.

Millions of Moroccan supporters who were counting on Harit to assist his country’s team perform well at the World Cup, as well as Morocco’s head coach Walid Regragui, were shocked by his injury.
