The decision was issued on Monday by the Adjudicatory Chamber of the Independent Ethics committee, which found that the Madagascan president is guilty of violating FIFA’s ethical rules including his duty of loyalty, offering and accepting gifts or other benefits, abusing his position and mismanaging funds.

The decision was reached after a thorough investigation by the Ethics Committee into the president’s conduct between the years 2017 and 2019 which ruled that Ahmad Ahmad breached the FIFA’s Code of Ethics in CAF-related governance issues through “the organisation and financing of an Umah pilgrimage to Mecca, his involvement in CAF’s dealings with the sport equipment company Tectical Steel and other activities”.

CAF’s president received the terms of the decision of his ban for five years for his misconduct as well as a CHF 200.000 fine during his official campaign shattering his aspiration to be re-elected as the CAF president for another four years.

In its monthly report on “Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior”, The Company that owns the social networking site Facebook announced shutting down nearly 8,000 accounts and pages for their involvement in misleading campaigns around the world last October.

These accounts have engaged in misleading political influence campaigns using fake accounts targeting audiences at their homeland and abroad.

According to the report, a network of accounts and Facebook pages from Egypt, Turkey and Morocco is operated by individuals linked to the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, which operates various networks of groups in many parts of the Middle Eastern region.

The pages targeted countries in the region and included some IR-related content.
