In addition, it emphasized that relations with Morocco in the area of fisheries “are part of a global and mutually beneficial partnership, which makes Morocco and the EU strategic partners for stability, development, and prosperity in the region” in a joint statement issued at the conclusion of the Joint Commission’s 5th session, which was held Thursday in Brussels.

This fifth meeting, which was held in accordance with the Partnership Agreement for Sustainable Fisheries between Morocco and the European Union, allowed for an overall evaluation of the four years of the Fisheries Protocol’s implementation, which ends on July 17 in accordance with its Article 16.

Nasser Bourita, the minister of foreign affairs, African cooperation, and Moroccan expatriates, had stated at a press conference in Rabat on Wednesday following the conclusion of the third ministerial meeting of the Atlantic African States Process that the Kingdom would decide on the future of its cooperation with the EU in the fisheries sector after considering its own evaluations and seeking input from European partners.

For winning the coveted Awa Entrepreneurship Prize for women entrepreneurs on Thursday, Rim Machhour and Safae Bennouna made headlines in Morocco and Europe.

Safae Bennouna finished third in the “scale up” category, while Machhour took top place in the “innovation” category.

Machhour co-founded Dealkhir.ma, an e-commerce platform with a charitable goal, and holds a master’s degree in social innovation. The site donates NGOs 70% of its profits.
Bennouna, on the other hand, is the creator of Hedo, a line of women’s clothing that works with local makers.

On January 26, Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended a ceremony in Brussels when the young Moroccan women entrepreneurs received their awards.

The Awa Entrepreneurship Prize is a program of the Belgian Development Agency (Enabel) that recognizes female business owners in the cooperating nations of Belgium.
More than 2,400 applicants from 16 countries submitted their concepts this year, and the winning ones were chosen.

The Awa Award “aims to reward influential firms and women entrepreneurs who are role models for their communities,” according to Enabel.

According to a story from the Brussels Times, Caroline Gennez, Belgian Minister of Development Cooperation and of Major Cities, described the Awa Prize winners as “all remarkable role models.” “I have the utmost respect for their tenacity, imagination, and bravery. Numerous girls and women in their own communities will be inspired by them to follow in their footsteps.

Nasser Bourita, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, leads the Moroccan delegation.

If the summit provides an opportunity for the European side to lay the groundwork for a renewed and deeper partnership with the African Union, Morocco will affirm its political commitment at the highest level through its qualitative presence, led by HM King Mohammed VI, which is part of the Royal Vision for a prosperous, emancipated Africa capable of taking control of its destiny.

In addition to Morocco’s active participation in all segments (intergovernmental, private sector, NGOs) in the run-up to the summit, the Kingdom’s co-chairmanship of the round table on Education, Culture, Vocational Training, and Migration and Mobility on Friday is a sign of renewed confidence in the Kingdom’s place among its African brothers and European friends and partners, thanks to the Royal leadership.

This summit, according to the Council of Europe, “will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to establish the foundations for a revived and deepened EU-AU cooperation with political commitment at the highest level, based on trust and a clear understanding of our common interests.”

African and European leaders are set to debate how the two continents might boost prosperity, with the goal of launching an ambitious Africa-Europe investment package that addresses global issues like climate change and the current health crisis.

According to the same source, the two sides would also examine instruments and ways to achieve stability and security through a revamped architecture for peace and security.

The summit will be organized around the following themes:

Financing growth, health systems and vaccine production, agriculture and sustainable development, education, culture, and vocational training, migration and mobility, private sector support, economic integration and peace, security and governance, and finally climate change and energy transition, digital connectivity, infrastructure, and transportation.

At the conclusion of the summit, a joint declaration on a shared vision for 2030 should be adopted.

The fifth EU-African Union Summit was place in Abidjan on November 29 and 30, 2017. On that occasion, the EU and AU presidents signed a joint declaration defining shared priorities for the EU-Africa collaboration in four important areas:

Economic Opportunities for Youth, Peace and Security, Mobility and Migration, and Governance Cooperation.

The activities of this exhibition, which will be held from 8th to 12th March, were inaugurated by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Belgium and Luxembourg, Mohamed Ameur, along with the Consul General of Morocco in Brussels, Abderrahmane Fyad.

Visitors to this event, which is part of the cultural activities organized by the consulate for the benefit of the Moroccan community residing in Brussels, in coordination with civil society activities, will be able to grasp the rich cultural heritage of our southern provinces through a “desert tent” pitched at the consulate’s headquarters.

The exhibition organized in partnership with “My Mother” and “World of Humanity” (Monde de L’Humanité) associations, which are mainly invested in cultural and social fields, is an occasion to shed light on Sahrawi women detained in Tindouf camps, and who are suffering from the violation of their various basic rights.

On this occasion, two testimonies were presented by two female human rights activists, namely Al-Saadani Maa Al-Ainain, member of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, and Aicha Douihi, head of the Sahara Observatory for Peace, Democracy and Human Rights, where they shed light on some manifestations of the bitter suffering endured by Moroccan Sahrawi women detained in these camps.

This exhibition is an opportunity for Moroccan citizens residing in Belgium to express not only their solidarity and steadfast support for the liberation of women and children detained in the camps of Tindouf, but also to reveal the squalid conditions of life in these camps and denounce the horrific situation prevailing in them.
