Joy Awards: Achraf Hakimi voted best Arab sportsman of the year

The Moroccan international, Achraf Hakimi, was elected the best Arab sportsman in 2023, during the Joy Awards, held Saturday in Saudi Arabia.

Achraf Hakimi won the title of best Arab sportsman in 2023 after the general public was invited to vote for his favorite athlete of the year. The Joy Awards honor both male and female celebrities from the MENA region for their outstanding accomplishments.

The international player thoroughly deserved his award, according to Turki Al Sheikh, chairman of the Saudi Entertainment Authority, because of his significant presence at Paris Saint-Germain and his outstanding performance with the Atlas Lions at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Mariam Saleh Binladen, a Saudi woman, won the award for the most popular sportswoman, he continued.

In addition, Turki Al Sheikh presented awards to several artists and influencers in the fields of television, film, sports and music, as well as to new faces in the art scene to support young talent.

This event has seen the participation of major Arab and global artistic figures, including the Saudi singer Mohamed Abdou, the Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan, the American director Michael Bay, the Australian actor Mel Gibson, the Egyptian actor Mohamed Henedi, the Kuwaiti singer Nabil Shuail, among others.

The Colombian-American artist Sofia Vergara won the award of the personality of the year, while the Saudi Rashed Al Majed, the American Mel Gibson, the Egyptians Ahmed Helmy, Mona Zaki and Mohamed Mounir and the Kuwaiti Hayat Al-Fahd, Souad Abdullah and Nawal, won the honorary award of the entertainment creators.
