CAF Women’s Champions League: Title-holder AS FAR Misses Out on the Finals

AS FAR suffered a 1-0 defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday, November 15, at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo, Côte d’Ivoire, in the semi-final of the CAF Women ‘s Champions League. The Rbaties will not be defending their title.

In the semi-final of the 3rd edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, the Moroccan team, AS FAR, suffered a 0-1 loss against their South African counterpart, Mamelodi Sundowns. The match took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo, Côte d’Ivoire.

The first half of the game ended in a goalless draw (0-0). However, the South African team surprised AS FAR’s defense, securing the winning goal in the 73rd minute through Boitumelo Rabale.

In the other semifinal match at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro, Sporting Club Casablanca will take on the Ghanaian team Ampem Darkoa on Wednesday at 8:00 PM.

The final of the 3rd edition is scheduled for November 19 at 8:00 PM in Korhogo.

CAF Women’s Champions League, the premier continental competition for women’s football clubs in Africa, features champions from six CAF zones, the host country, and one additional team.

The previous two editions took place in Egypt in 2021 and Morocco in 2022.
