<p>The ceremony was presided over by Guatemalan Foreign Minister  Mario Adolfo Bucaro Flores and the wali of the region of Dakhla Oued Eddahab, Lamine Benomar, governor of the province of Oued Eddahab, in the presence of several elected officials and consuls accredited to Dakhla.</p>
<p>This is a Latin American country&#8217;s first consulate in the southern provinces.</p>
<p>This consulate joins the 27 consulates established in the southern provinces, including 15 in Dakhla and 12 in Laayoune, with the goal of capitalizing on the region&#8217;s expansion and economic development, as well as its openness to the rest of the African continent. Indeed, Morocco, particularly its southern regions, provides a natural link for collaboration with West Africa and the African continent as a whole.</p>
<p>As part of Morocco&#8217;s excellent relations with Guatemala, Mario Adolfo Bucaro Flores visit to the Kingdom aims to give renewed content to the two countries solid partnership in accordance with the High Directions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Excellency President Alejandro Eduardo Giammattei Falla</p>

<p>So far, 24 nations have established diplomatic missions in the Moroccan Sahara’s southern provinces.</p>
<p>In Dakhla, the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States’ consulate will join the consulates of the Republic of Sierra Leone, the Republic of Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, the Republic of Djibouti, the Republic of Liberia, Burkina Faso, the Republic of Guinea Bissau, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and the Republic of Liberia.</p>
