On this particular occasion, the Sovereign paid visits to the various parts of this solidarity project, demonstrating his dedication to enhancing healthcare for the general public, enhancing the delivery of care to populations at risk, and promoting a comprehensive, sustainable, and integrated human development.

The establishment of this facility is consistent with the Sovereign’s initiatives to assure frequent and periodic medical follow-up for those whose health conditions call for specialized consultations and to promote access to basic, local, and high-quality healthcare for the poor.

The new Proximity Medical Center, which will provide care around-the-clock and assist almost 60,000 people annually, would lessen the strain on the area’s hospitals while also sparing certain underprivileged patients from lengthy journeys that would be extremely costly for them and their families.

The CMP – Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity serves over 300,000 people in the new town of Errahma and the surrounding areas as an intermediary structure between the network of basic health care establishments (level 1 and 2) and the hospital network, ensuring greater complementarity in the health map at the level of the Region.

As a result, the new Center has a close-by pole of medical emergencies with emergency doctors who will ensure the watch, particularly in the dechoquage, examination, care, observation, and plaster rooms.

The facility also has a unit for orthopedics and functional rehabilitation, a unit for specialized medical consultations (cardiology, ENT, gastroenterology, pediatrics, gynecology, and ophthalmology), a unit for orthopedics and functional rehabilitation, and a medical-technical pole with an operating room (one for general surgery and another for obstetric surgery) and a recovery room.

The CMP – Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity of the new town of Errahma also houses a mother-child health center with an ultrasound machine, examination rooms, care, and a technical birth unit (4 delivery rooms, and a room for the care of infants).

The Center is home to a dental health care unit, a medical imaging unit (radiology, mammography, ultrasound, and panoramic), a medical analysis laboratory, a hospitalization unit (13 double rooms), a sterilization unit, a pharmacy, an awareness room, a kitchen, and a morgue. It also has the most up-to-date equipment in all of these areas. To assure patient medical transit, the new hospital also features an ambulance.

The newly opened Proximity Medical Center in the new city of Errahma is a part of a comprehensive program run by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and intended to support the national healthcare sector, just like those inaugurated by the Sovereign in the El Youssoufia district in Rabat and Sidi Moumen in Casablanca, as well as those in Témara and Tangier (Beni Makada district), which will be operational in 2022.

This program places a special emphasis on enhancing the current healthcare supply, establishing a community-wide healthcare system, and incorporating a complementary social approach into the patient support systems. Twelve regional medical facilities will be established as a result of the initiative, including three in Casablanca (Sidi Moumen, the new settlement of Errahma, and Hay Hassani), two in Fez, two in Tangier, and one in each of Agadir, Marrakech, Rabat, Salé, and Témara.

The Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, the Provincial Council of Nouaceur, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection collaborated on this project. It supports the Foundation’s numerous initiatives in the medical and humanitarian sectors and highlights its multifaceted and diversified dedication to the welfare and prosperity of the underprivileged.

This structure, financed by the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P), the Institute of Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN) and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), is a test, training and innovation platform dedicated to research and development (R&D) in the fields of green buildings, energy efficiency, electric mobility and smart networks.

This platform aims to contribute to the development of the Moroccan and African sustainable city of the future through the valorisation of low environmental impact building materials, the integration of renewable energies in buildings and digitalisation.

Its objective is to encourage applied research, innovation and incubation by relying on the Kingdom’s human capital through the pooling of research infrastructures and the federating of efforts of the various institutions and local players in the construction and electrical networks sectors (research centres, universities, development agencies, large companies and SMEs, etc.).

During the ceremony, the platform’s research themes and infrastructures were presented to the main national and foreign academic, industrial and institutional actors. This event also allowed the various stakeholders to create synergies and to join forces through the Green & Smart Building Park in order to contribute to the success of the energy transition of the Moroccan and African city of tomorrow.

The inauguration ceremony of the GSBP was finally the occasion to celebrate the achievement of this bilateral project between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Korea, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Green & Smart Building Park platform will contribute to moving from research to innovation and to developing products, services and processes for the Moroccan and African sustainable city of tomorrow.

King Mohammed VI attended the inauguration of the new bus station in Rabat on Monday, a project that structures the southern entrance to the city, modernizes the interurban transport sector in the conurbation, and contributes to the consolidation and strengthening of the image of the Kingdom’s capital.

The new Rabat bus station, which is in line with the objectives of the city of Rabat’s integrated development program, called “Rabat City of Light, Moroccan Capital of Culture,” has 46 bus platforms and a parking lot for long-term bus parking of 22 places, compared to 38 platforms in the old bus station of “Al Kamra.”

The new bus station, which includes an outdoor parking lot for cars and cabs, a drop-off area, as well as catering and commercial premises, should accommodate more than 10,000 passengers per day, compared to 6,000 passengers for the old station. It includes a commercial center with 40 shops, while the one of “Al Kamra” had only 15 commercial premises.

Mobilizing investments of about 245 million dirhams, this project illustrates the firm commitment of the Sovereign to provide the city of Rabat with infrastructure worthy of its status and in line with the expectations of the population, residents and visitors.

The new bus station, which has direct access from the Rabat-Casablanca highway, was constructed on a parcel of ground larger than 8 hectares at the southern entrance of the Rabat-Casablanca highway, near the Prince Moulay Abdallah Sports Complex of Rabat.

The bus station, whose construction work was started by the Sovereign in October 2017, meets the most modern architectural standards, allowing for the optimization of interior spaces, the smooth management of passengers, the improvement of the external environment’s attractiveness, and compliance with the requirements of safety, security, and service quality.

The next generation bus station is equipped with an integrated computerized management system that enables passenger reception and information, as well as the optimal administration of passenger transport and logistical operations and the purchase of travel tickets.

Aside from the obvious benefit of saving time, this system assists in knowing the departure and arrival times of coaches and their routes, avoiding intermediaries, and combating any illegal increase in ticket prices, with the goal of promoting the road passenger transport sector, which connects different cities in the Kingdom and generates many jobs.

The new station also contains infrastructure and equipment that allow passengers and tourists to enjoy the greatest services while being fully compliant with safety standards. The same is true for professionals in the road transport sector, who now have suitable working circumstances to improve their competitiveness, grow their turnover, and maintain their dignity as a result of this new structure.

Furthermore, the new bus station’s strategic location and connection to the network of national roads and highways will contribute to the decongestion of traffic within Rabat, reducing pollution and optimizing passenger transport, thanks to a connection of the new station to the urban transport network.

The new Rabat station is one of several efforts and initiatives done by His Majesty the King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, to enhance residents living circumstances and to assure the Kingdom’s many cities integrated, balanced, and inclusive growth.

His Majesty the King, was greeted on the margins of this inauguration by Mrs Audrey Azoulay, Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
