Five extremists affiliated with the terrorist organization “Istalmic State,” aged 21 to 44, were arrested Wednesday morning by the Central Bureau for Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), with the help of special forces from the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), for their alleged involvement in planning for the execution of destructive projects within the framework of so-called individual terrorist operations.

According to a statement released by the BCIJ, the suspects were arrested in separate and simultaneous security operations in Kenitra, Larache, Souk Sebt Ouled Nemma, Taroudant, and the rural commune of Souihla (Marrakech prefecture), as part of the DGST services’ ongoing efforts to neutralize and abort terrorist plans and projects that threaten the country’s and citizens’ security.

Electronic materials and media were seized during searches at the homes of those arrested, according to the same source, and will be subjected to technical and digital expertise to determine their content. Manuscripts praising the terrorist organization Islamic State were also seized, including a manuscript listing products and elements used in the manufacture of explosive devices, as well as bladed weapons of various sizes.

According to early investigations, the five extremists linked with the terrorist organization “Islamic State” are involved in the instigation and planning of terrorist projects, as well as the gathering of extremist content on explosive device manufacturing.

They also commended the Islamic State terrorist organization’s physical liquidation and mutilation of bodies, as well as fanatical takfirist notions of society and representatives of public power, and approving the spoils of terrorist operations.

According to the statement, the suspects had specified terrorist targets that were unique to each of them, but that all overlapped in terms of individual terrorism methods and techniques, which were summarized in the targeting of security and military sites and government installations.

They also planned physical liquidations against members of the public and government departments, as well as commercial and banking institutions, in order to get the resources and funding needed for terrorist activities.

The suspects were detained pending the conclusion of a judicial investigation by the BCIJ, which was conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office in charge of terrorism cases, with the goal of highlighting the terrorist projects prepared by each of them and determining any possible ramifications with other terrorist cells and organizations active in Morocco and abroad.

The Central Bureau for Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) arrested an extremist supporter of the “Islamic State” (IS) aged 24 and active in the Sala Al Jadida region on Thursday, in close collaboration with the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).

The suspect’s arrest and the thwarting of his terrorist plot are part of the Moroccan security services’ ongoing efforts to confront the risks of violent extremism and combat terrorist threats, according to the BCIJ.

According to the statement, this arrest is the result of bilateral cooperative relations and tight coordination between the services of the DGST of the Kingdom of Morocco, intelligence services, and US law enforcement organizations.

The suspect had prepared digital content in which he professed allegiance to the purported emir of the IS terrorist group and was intending to join the organization’s camps abroad before deciding to take part in a terrorist project in Morocco using explosive devices, according to the BCIJ.

According to the investigation, the suspect attempted to prepare two explosive devices, which was confirmed by the searches, which resulted in the seizure of electronic devices, materials, and remains of products suspected of being used in the preparation of explosives, which were handed over to technical security services to be subjected to the necessary scientific expertise.

The suspect was detained until the BCIJ investigation, which is being performed under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office in charge of terrorism issues, with the goal of showing the links of this terrorist plot, as well as its regional consequences both in Morocco and overseas.

According to the source, this security operation demonstrates the necessity and efficiency of bilateral collaboration between the DGST and the US security and intelligence services in the battle against violent extremism and terrorist threats on a global scale.

Another “Islamist Terrorist” attack in Europe but this time in Vienna, Austria. Police were dispersed in hundreds across the city of Vienna this Tuesday looking for the suspects behind the attacks that had left a total of five dead people.

According to Austrian Interior Minister, Karl Nehammer, after the police had identified the attacker who was wearing an explosives belt they shot him to death to discover later the belt to be fake. Investigations linked the suspect to Islamic State supporters.

Minister of Interior had urged citizens to seek refuge indoors while the investigation was still ongoing.

The attacker resulted in the death of confirmed two men and a woman, civilians, and the injury of 15 others including a police officer.

Neighboring states had brought urgent back up of at least 1000 officers to help in the sweeping of the area according to a police spokesman.

Nehammer expressed his deep shock over the incident describing the country’s strong democracy and deeply rooted values of tolerance and coexistence.

Witnesses of the attack described suspects shooting crowds randomly in bars with automatic rifles Monday evening that coincides with the last day before the country enters the Covid-19 curfew.

The investigation is still ongoing searching homes and arresting suspects according to the Ministry of Interior.

Top officials from the European Union rushed to offer their condolences and express their shock at the attacks.

A tweet from U.S. President, Donald Trump, said that their prayers are with the people of Vienna after yet another vile act of terrorism in Europe. Donald expressed the U.S. stand with Austria, France and all of Europe to fight terrorism.

Joe Biden, democratic presidential candidate, on his part described the attack as a horrific terrorist attack, as he added that we must all stand against hate and violence.
