Nasser Bourita, the minister of foreign affairs, reiterated that the Kingdom of Morocco, whose King Mohammed VI serves as chairman of the Jerusalem Committee, strongly condemns a new violation of the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s sanctity by an Israeli government official yesterday, adding that these actions “have become provocatively repetitive.”

Following their talks today, Monday in Rabat, Bourita and his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba held a joint news conference to make it plain that Morocco demands the immediate halt of all actions that harm the legal and historical character of the holy city.

He emphasized that the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state within the boundaries of July 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital are the only ways to finally resolve the Palestinian issue, and that the Kingdom of Morocco, acting on the orders of King Mohammed VI, always believes in and adheres to this option.

The detrimental effects of these provocations, as well as the fact that they “only foster extremism and violence in the region,” prompted him to express his desire that they would be discontinued.

According to the same source, the Ministers emphasized the importance of this issue in the two countries’ foreign policies, citing His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his brother King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s “legitimate right to establish an independent State on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital resolution,” in accordance with the internationally agreed two-State solution and relevant international resolutions.

The Ministers also discussed the political and security situation in the Arab world, emphasizing the necessity of united Arab action in developing Arab states’ capabilities, ensuring their security and stability, and ensuring their nations’ long-term development. They acknowledged their delight at reaching an agreement on the myriad difficulties and challenges confronting the Middle East.
