The British Senior Defense Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Air Marshal Martin Elliot Sampson, on an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, was welcomed on Tuesday at the headquarters of this Administration, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces. This was done in accordance with the Very High Royal Instructions.

The two officials expressed their satisfaction with the excellence and longevity of the unique ties that unite the two Kingdoms during this meeting, which was held in the presence of the British Ambassador in Rabat, and they highlighted their ambition to further develop these long-standing relations, according to the same source.

The two officials also discussed the regional security environment, with a focus on Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Sahel. They emphasized the necessity of strengthening defense cooperation for world peace and regional stability.

In this regard, the two officials reviewed the various facets of bilateral cooperation and ways and means to further strengthen it in areas of common interest while highlighting the historic role that Morocco has always played in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and Africa thanks to the foresight of His Majesty the King, may God assist Him.

The Lieutenant General, Inspector General of the FAR, and Commander of the South Zone received Marshal E. Sampson at the General Staff of the FAR in Rabat on the same day and in accordance with the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Leader and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the statement continued.

The two officials discussed the different areas of bilateral collaboration between the Royal Armed Forces and the British Armed Forces after calling the relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Kingdom as “historic, vibrant, and remarkable, founded on friendship and mutual trust.” This collaboration includes training, visits and experience-exchange programs, and the planning of joint exercises like “Jbel Sahara.”

On this occasion, and in accordance with the High Directives of His Majesty the King, Supreme Leader and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the Lieutenant General expressed the willingness of the Royal Armed Forces to continue to work to further promote bilateral military cooperation, and also to expand it to other areas of common interest, including maritime security, Special Forces, Defense Industry and Artificial Intelligence, the statement added.

Moroccan-British military cooperation is governed by a Framework Agreement on Military and Technical Cooperation signed in 1993, as well as a Status of Forces Agreement signed in 2013. The bilateral activities to be undertaken are programmed according to a schedule established by a joint commission which is held annually and alternately in Rabat and London.

The new natural gas reservoir discovered in the Anchois well off the coast of Larache is of outstanding quality, according to Chariot Oil & Gas.

Chariot Oil & Gas, a British business, asserts that studies on these field wells found that methane gas will be present at more than 96 percent in the seven reservoirs, “without hazardous contaminants such as H2S or CO2,” allowing for “minimum treatment” of the gas in the development.

The results of the testing allow an upgrade to roughly 150 m, up from the preliminary analysis of more than 100 m previously revealed, and up from the 55 m estimated after the first discovery of the Anchois-1 well, according to the note.

The British oil company claims that, in its current form, the gas treatment will not necessitate a large investment because it can be done with “a single gas treatment facility.”

“Delighted to offer this extremely good update on the examination of well data obtained from our successful gas drilling campaign on the Anchois project,” stated Adonis Pouroulis, interim CEO of Chariot.

“Our objective is to bring Anchois gas development online rapidly, to fuel Morocco’s economic growth, but also to deliver short-term cash flow to our shareholders,” says Andonis Pouroulis. To the interest of all stakeholders, we will continue to work on an accelerated development plan for the site.”

This second-field process seeks to confirm the expectations associated with the potential for gas detection in these fields, which significantly raises the company’s natural gas shares.

National natural gas production is only 100 million cubic meters per year, and is extracted from small fields in both the West and the Essaouira, but this volume is not sufficient to fill the national needs currently estimated at 1 billion cubic meters per year.

Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, met his counterpart, James Heappey, Minister of British Armed Forces today, Thursday, November 5^th, in Rabat.

The British minister is accompanied on his official visit to Morocco by both John Lorimer, Lieutenant General, and Simon Martin, the British ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco. The Minister of the British Armed Forces will meet with a number of military and government officials to discuss issues of common concern.

This visit is within the Moroccan-British military cooperation framework. Bond by mutual support and trainings, both countries work on the evolution of their mutual cooperation.

One of the training sessions British Military takes part in is the “Jebel Sahara” exercise which takes place annually in Marrakech.
