According to a news statement from IRESEN, the partnership convention aims to increase academic and scientific interactions between the three institutions in the field of renewable energy, within the scope of the “university-business” initiative.

The program intends to foster collaboration and synergy between the renewable energy and solar sectors in the two nations.

A summer school for about thirty Moroccan and German students will be held at the Green & Smart Building Park in Benguerir from May 8–12, 2023.

The goal of the summer school is to give participants a full education in building and energy efficiency through a rigorous schedule of theoretical and practical classes taught by authorities in the field.

Participants in the summer school program are taught the fundamentals of designing energy-efficient buildings, smart grid technology, integrating renewable energy sources into buildings and communities, storage, and sustainable transportation.

In order to integrate the efforts of the two nations, the partnership also comprises conducting cooperative research in the fields of sustainable building technology, renewable energies, energy efficiency, electromobility, and digitization.

In order to exchange academic knowledge, scientific discoveries, and employees from the three universities, the convention also entails the transfer of professors, researchers, and staff.

Students will be able to take part in supervised thesis mobility programs and internships thanks to the arrangement.

Dr. Mostafa Benzaazoua, Director of GEP, Dr. Samir Rachidi, Director General of IRESEN, and Stephan Trahasch, Director of the University, all signed the contract.

In a message to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God assist him on the occasion of the New Year, His Excellency Frank-Walter STEINMEIR, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, emphasized that “Morocco has undertaken vast reforms under your leadership,” recalling the “continued and sustained support (from Germany) for Morocco’s impressive development.”

“I hold in high regard Your creative approaches in the fight against climate change and in the energy transition,” the German President added, emphasizing that “thanks to your country’s dynamic development, Morocco has become an important investment site for German firms in Africa.”

In this regard, President Steinmeir invited the Sovereign to pay a “State Visit to Germany” in order to “cement a new cooperation between the two countries.”

Regarding the Moroccan Sahara, Mr. Steinmeir stated in his Message to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God help him, that Germany “considers Morocco’s autonomy proposal proposed in 2007 as a serious and credible effort by Morocco and as a good platform for reaching an agreement” to this regional problem.

He also recalled “his country’s long-standing support for the United Nations process for a reasonable, sustainable, and mutually acceptable political solution.”

In his Message to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Bless Him, the German President emphasized the Kingdom’s significant role at the regional level. “I applaud your country’s significant contribution to the region’s stability and long-term prosperity,” President Steinmeir stated.

In this regard, he emphasized “Morocco’s specific commitment to fighting international terrorism, which is critical for my country (Germany) and its security.”

“We also see the Moroccan approach of teaching imams as a viable aspect that can counter extremism,” stated German President Angela Merkel.

“My country and I are very thankful for Your active participation to the Libyan peace process,” said German President Angela Merkel in her message to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God bless Him.
