The pan-African legislative body’s March sessions are being held under the “Acceleration of the African Continental Free Trade Area Implementation” theme chosen by the African Union (AU) for 2023.

In order to fully benefit African citizens and accomplish the goals and aspirations of Agenda 2063, the Standing Committees and other PAP organizations will adopt plans during these sessions to increase political commitment and speed up the effective implementation of the free trade area.

The PAP Chairperson Chief Fortune Charumbira will preside over this year’s first statutory meeting, which will discuss, among other things, the state of the AU Ten-Year Plan of Action to End Child Labor and the model law on land management.

The report on information access, digital rights, the model law on climate change, proposed fact-finding missions to various conflict zones and border crossings on the continent, the removal of visa requirements for sports teams visiting Africa, forced labor and human trafficking, and the model law will all be covered.

A capacity-building workshop on the signature and ratification of particular African Union protocols and charters will also be held by participants in Africa’s largest parliamentary meeting.

In addition, International Women’s Day 2023 will be observed under the theme: “For an Inclusive Digital World: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”.

As a last step in the oversight role of Parliament, reports from various AU institutions will be given to the PAP Standing Committees. These organizations include the African Union Commission on International Law, the Anti-Corruption Council, and the African Peer Review Mechanism.

Three members of the House of Representatives’ delegation and two members of the House of Advisors’ council are the Moroccan Parliament’s representatives at this event.
