Morocco, EU continue to strengthen their partnership

Madrid – Morocco continues its efforts to ”strengthen its position as the European Union’s main ally on the African continent”, underlines Monday the Spanish magazine ”Atalayar”.
With an agreement on five reform projects in the Kingdom worth 5.5 billion dirhams (almost 500 million euros), Rabat has been successful in fostering its links with the supranational organization “The publication that specializes in Maghreb matters says.

The European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, visited Morocco last week, providing an opportunity to “deepen cooperation with the Kingdom,” according to the article’s author, who also noted that this trip allowed for the launch of projects under the “Partnership between Europe and Morocco for Shared Prosperity.

According to “Atalayar,” Varhelyi expressed the delight of the EU in implementing a number of initiatives ranging from social protection issues to ecological transition, to access to financing and young employment. “Morocco is and will remain an important partner for the European Union,” he stated.

The European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement spoke about “the great importance” of the Morocco-EU collaboration as well as the Kingdom’s function as a pillar of stability in the region during his working visit to Rabat, which was the second of its type in less than a year.

Five cooperation agreements totaling almost 500 million euros were inked by the two parties at this time to support Morocco’s key reform initiatives.
