The Slovenian Foreign Ministry noted in a tweet on the 67th anniversary of the Kingdom’s Independence Day that “Slovenia and Morocco have established strong and cordial relations over time. We intend to keep up our fruitful partnership.”

The Tweet, which comes a few days after Urska Klakocar Zupancic, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, visited the Kingdom, says “Congratulations on the celebration of the Independence Day of Morocco and best wishes for prosperity and success.”

On this visit, which took place from 14 to 16 of November, Klakocar Zupancic had meetings with the President of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, centered on the quality of relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Slovenia.

The two parties discussed the significant role of the two legislative institutions in the development of relations between the two countries which celebrate this year the 30th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.

It was also discussed how to strengthen ties in order to advance shared understanding, stability, and economic growth in light of Morocco’s position as an essential partner of the European Union (EU) and a crucial element of the African continent and the Mediterranean.

Every November 18, Independence Day is celebrated in remembrance of the late King Mohammed V’s speech declaring the end of the protectorate and the liberation of the country from colonialism. On November 18, 1955, after his return from exile in the company of the royal family, Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef proclaimed, “We have moved from the battle of the small Jihad to the one of the grand Jihad.”
