During their bilateral discussion, Sanchez and Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa addressed the media in Lanzarote (Canary Islands). “This decision is a very excellent positive message that strengthens the environment for us to continue forward with our bid,” Sanchez stated.

The head of the Spanish Executive declared, “We must be happy with this decision, because it improves this bid’s chances of winning this race.

He continued by saying that this bid improves ties between Europe and Africa as well as between three nations with common objectives.

In a message delivered on Tuesday in Rwanda’s capital city of Kigali in conjunction with the presentation of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President’s Outstanding Achievement Award 2022 to the Sovereign, HM King Mohammed VI announced Morocco’s joint bid with Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup.

The Sovereign stated that this combined bid, which is unprecedented in football history, would unite Europe and Africa, the northern and southern Mediterranean, as well as the African, Arab, and Euro-Mediterranean worlds.

According to HM the King, this candidacy “will also bring out the best in all of us – in effect, a combination of genius, creativity, experience, and means.”
